I Love Autumn

Jake has been getting on my case for the past little bit about updating the blog. He's tired of turning on his computer and seeing the same Halloween post from a month ago. I can't say that I blame him. The thing is that with me pretty much sitting on the couch for the past month and a half I haven't had much to blog about. My life consists of trying to keep my food in my stomach and that doesn't make the most interesting post. Well last week I had a few moments of relief. Then this week I was blessed with four good days so far. So for Thanksgiving I can say that I am thankful for being able to keep my food down. Those of you who get sick while pregnant know how really really really thankful I am. So before winter hits us I wanted to post the few things I've been able to enjoy this fall.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we were lucky enough to have family from my dad's side. Most of them are out west so the only time we see them is when we go out there. We had my cousin Eric and his family and my aunt, uncle and two of their kids. It was the first Thanksgiving we had to do the whole dinner without my parents. I think it turned out pretty. Most of the food was consumed and so one has suffered from food poisoning. Tade had fun playing with cousins and the adults had a great time visiting with each other.

Halloween

My pregnancy sickness has taken over so much that I can't even sit at the computer long enough to blog. I finally have a moment of settled stomach so I'm going to have a go at posting all the Halloween festivities.

About two weeks ago Tade and I decided our house needed Halloween decorations. Thanks to the Bingham's blog and their decoration ideas we were able to make fast and cheap ghosts, bats, and spiders. Thanks you guys so much for the ideas!!!!

The beginning of last week was the worst I've faced pregnant. I was terrified because I thought it wasn't going to go away and I needed to be in one piece thursday and friday. Thursday I had to run a million errands for all the Halloween parties I was in charge of and friday I had to throw the parties. My prayers must have been heard because after three straight days of sitting on the couch I was just fine. Friday morning I headed to Tade's school to set up for his class Halloween party. Then I ran with Seth and grabbed lunch and returned to the school to help the kids get into their costumes. Then I headed outside for the parade. After the parade we ate Krispy Kreme, played games, and make tootsie pop ghosts. One of the games we played was called "unlucky spots." It's pretty much musical chairs, but with spots on the floor in the theme of Halloween. This is a game my mom had my kindergarten class play when I was in kindergarten and I repeated it with my kindergartner. I even used the same spots she had way back then.

Friday night was our ward Halloween party. This was the main thing I was stressing about, but as the week went on and people saw how sick I was I had so much help being offered. Can I just tell you how much I love my friends and the the members of my ward? The stress lessened because I knew that whether or not I made it to the party it would be taken care of. Fortunately I was able to make it. It was a great night starting with a chili cook-off. We had 18 different chili entries to be judged. I was so impressed with the turn out. After the food the young women had a spook alley that the little kids loved. Then we headed outside for the trunk or treat.

I went to bed friday night with a large weight lifted off my shoulders. All we had left to get through was trick or treating on Halloween. I was blessed with a calm stomach on the days I really needed it and I was very thankful, but saturday when I woke up I knew it was all over. So Jake took the boys trick or treating while I stayed home feeling not so good. I would have said I stayed home passing out candy, but the doorbell only rang twice. It was a good weekend, but I'm very happy Halloween is over.
