Cousin Time

Shauna and Sean were heading to the states for Sean's brother's wedding a couple days before Christmas.  Shauna figured since she had to take a forever long flight with Asher she'd better come early and make the trip worth while.  She came with Asher the day after Thanksgiving and spent three weeks here before Sean came out.  It was wonderful having all that time to see Andelyne and Asher together.  Andelyne is three months older, but Asher is way bigger.  It was funny seeing them interact.  Asher would use he physical size to get his way and Andelyne used her wit to tease him.  I must say Shauna and I were laughing at their interaction.

 Asher's favorite thing was bouncing.  this kid seriously hops and bounces around everywhere and on everything.  He gets some serious air for a 15 month old.

 The kids found the perfect sitting spot under the phone area in the kitchen.

Nice Asher.  The things your cousin is teaching you.

I'm not sure if this was a staring contest or screaming contest.  With Seth involved it was probably a screaming contest.

Andelyne thought it was so fun to pour water all over Asher.  Half of the time she missed and poured it on herself.

DC Photo Class

Several years ago I got a good camera, but still don't know how do half of what it's capable of.  My friend Wendy emailed me about a groupon offer for a DC photo class.  We thought this would be a fun way to learn more about our cameras while getting good shots of DC.

We started at the Korean Memorial.  As we were sitting there I realized the I hadn't ever been over to this memorial.  I guess that's what happens when you grow up in an area, you don't see half of what it has to offer.

Our second stop was the Lincoln Memorial.  I can say that I have been to this one about a million times.  I think Lincoln is not an easy picture to get and be happy with it.

There was some cool lighting outside of the memorial though.

The famous Forest Gump reflecting pool outside the Lincoln Memorial was under construction.  I know you're all thinking, "Run Jenny, run" aren't you?

Our next stop was another place I had never been.  In fact I didn't even know it existed.  This is the huge Albert Einstein statue.  I've walked and driven by it hundreds of times, but never noticed it behind some bushes.

  

Then we headed over to the memorials representing Vietnam.  We were there the day after Veterans Day and it was really neat seeing all the things laying against the memorials and all the wreaths placed in honor of those who fought.

At the Vietnam wall we were supposed to take candid pictures of strangers.  We were working on pictures that could tell a story.  I took several pictures, but my favorite were the ones with the kids in it.  They were the most inquisitive.

This last stop was the third in the Vietnam grouping.  It's the Women's memorial.

Karrie and Wendy were the wonderful ladies who took the class with me.  Thanks Wendy for finding this for us.  It was a delightful day and now I know what a few more of the buttons on my camera do.  My poor kids have suffered as a result.  They are my guinea pigs.
