For Seth's 5th birthday he wanted an Angry Birds party. I looked for ideas online and found someone who had created a life sized angry birds game. I thought it was pretty much awesome and knew it had to be created for Seth's party. It started as a kids only party, but then parents started showing interest. They wanted to come try to launch the angry birds and to film it. Seth's party ended up turning into a family party. Other than being a little crazy because we had to move it from Saturday afternoon to Friday evening due to weather it was a great party.
I found some easy decorations online.
We started the evening with pizza for dinner.
During dinner the kids mostly played in the backyard, but we did have a few other activities. Pretty much everything we did had to do with throwing, hitting and knocking things down. I made an angry birds knock the cans down game.
We also had a water balloon launcher. The kids launched several. Then I told them to grab some and just have fun.
The next part of the evening is what everyone came for...life size angry birds. You can't play life size angry birds without life size angry birds. I thought this was going to be hard and take forever, but it wasn't and I'm very proud of how they turned out. This is what I did.
Print and cut out each section of the faces.
Then trace with a sharpie.
Then paint.
Pretty cool looking aren't they!?!?!
We had a photo shoot with the angry birds.
Of course Seth couldn't help but knock them down.
Andelyne couldn't help it either.
Our birds with the sling shot. Thanks dad for creating this!
Our target, pigs included!
The action. Everyone was able to do it. If you notice my kids in different clothes it's because these pictures are from two different evenings. There were so many people there for the party that I didn't get many good pictures. We invited the Ainsworths over a few nights later to reenact the game so I could get better pictures and video footage.
Owen would just lean all the way back then let go. He would end up flat on his back, but man the balls went flying.
We had some missed, but...
...we had some great hits too. Our second night we had the best hits thanks to the missionaries who came over with the Ainsworths. I did let them know that life size angry birds if not normal after most dinner appointments.
(I am working on editing some video we have of the party so check back later for that.)
While the launching was still going on I gathered Seth's friends and headed to the deck for the pinata.
Then it was cake time. I love this cake because it is totally the game. The best part though was how easy it was to make.
We also had cute goody bags.
Seth LOVES guns so he was very happy when he opened several water guns from his friends.
This is my 5 year old. Man they grow up so fast.
