The kids had a half day on a friday at the beginning of March. Kathleen and I really wanted to do something with them after school got out. I suggested Great Falls and found out the Ainsworths had never been there before. We also convinced the Morgans they needed to go. The more the merrier! After school let out we loaded up the kids and were off. The drive there is great. You drive all through the MASSIVE houses of Potomac, Maryland. These houses are seriously massive with huge yards. After a few moments of beautiful homes we got the the park. The walk/hike takes us along the C&O Canal then across some off shoots of the Potomac river then out to the falls. The falls aren't beautiful cascading falls. They are more the rough and rocky ones that appeal to rafters.
It was a fun afternoon even though the rain came earlier than expected. We were a tad wet by the time we got back to the car, but that didn't dampen the day.
It had just rained a ton here so the water was high and muddy. When we come later in the spring and summer this area is totally dry.

The kids were so happy when we made it to the end. They could have cared less about the water because they had rocks to climb on.
I took a ton of pictures of Andelyne. She was just so cute in her red coat, shoes and beanie.
