Jake called from work the other day saying he had heard there was a model train convention in the area that the boys might like to go to. He offered to take the boys and let me have a saturday to myself. I didn't have to think twice about it and told him to have fun. So saturday morning the boys headed to the train convention. When they got there they found that it was way more crowded than they had expected. It took them forever to find parking, but once they got in they had a great time watching the trains. There was also a Thomas the train there for the kids to ride on, but Jake said the line was over an hour wait. So they opted to skip the Thomas ride. The convention was mostly booths selling very expensive trains with some exhibits in the back half of the room. There were all sorts of tracks set up with working models. The boys had a wonderful time seeing the trains, but it didn't take as long as they had expected.
After leaving the convention they decided to hit the train museum here in Gaithersburg. It's only 5 minutes from home, but we've never been there. This turned out to be as good as the convention if not better. There was also a fire station museum next to the train museum where the boys got to climb on fire trucks. Tade and Seth couldn't have been happier. They even came home with their own fire hats. We were so glad our friend John had his camera to capture the fun day. I completely forgot to send ours with Jake.
Seth absolutely loves fire trucks. I think driving one was a dream come true for this little 2 year old.
